Tara Johnson
Entering her 21st year in teaching Coach Tara Johnson leads the girls athletic program at Diamond Hill Jarvis High School. Coach Johnson is also the head girls varsity basketball coach and the assistant flag football coach.
BIO
Graduate from University of North Texas in 1997 and 2006
B.S. In Kinesiology and MA in Counseling
Played College basketball for University of North Florida
from 1992-1993 and University of north Texas from 1993-1995
Began coaching career as a Division I NCAA Assistant II
basketball coach at Florida Atlantic University in 1997
Then University of Texas Pan America (RGV) in 1998
Began public teaching career in Ft Worth at Kirkpatrick
Middle School in 1999
I have taught at FWISD, Plano ISD, Dallas ISD, Texas City
ISD, and Pharr San Juan Alamo ISD
In 2010 at the age of 36, I spent a short stint playing
professional/ international basketball in Durham, England, UK for Durham University
and for the FIBA National league of NE England
I have also spent a number of years working as a school
administrator and Counselor in a Disciplinary Alternative Education Program and
for the Texas Juvenile Justice Department.
I returned to FWISD in 2018 and this is my 5th year as the
AC and Head girls varsity basketball coach at DHJ. It is my 21sth
year of service.
